Wiebetech HOTPLUG 220v UK with 1 Mouse Jiggler

Transport a live computer without shutting it down.

No other product performs this patent pending feat.

What is HotPlug?
With HotPlug, you can move a computer without powering it down!

Bottom line: WiebeTech's HotPlug allows hot seizure and removal of computers from the field to anywhere else on the planet. HotPlug keeps power flowing to the computer while transferring the computer's power input from one A/C source (such as a wall outlet or power strip) to another (a portable UPS) and back again.

How to circumvent Whole Disk Encryption
The key: Do not allow the encryption to activate. Low level encryption such as Vista's Whole Disk Encryption (WDE) can halt an investigation. Use HotPlug and Mouse Jiggler to prevent encryption technologies from activating. If you can carry away the computer while it's still logged in, you maintain full access to the hard drive.

Training is Available
HotPlug training seminars with an instructor from WiebeTech are available. Training is recommended - while HotPlug is easy to use, there are bare terminals exposed during normal operation which are potentially dangerous with misuse, or without proper care.

Better than a hat with a rabbit in it
HotPlug seems impossible - even when seeing it done live. It's not magic, of course - the "trick" is that there are moments when the computer is actually plugged in twice. In those moments HotPlug is doing its job to make sure the target computer is getting only the correct amount of power.

How does it work?

1. Use Mouse Jiggler to prevent idle time events. Such as screen savers that invoke password protection.
2. Connect HotPlug to a portable power source. Any appropriately powered UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) will do.
3. Connect HotPlug to the computer's power source. There are several ways to achieve this. It's easiest if the target computer is on a Power Strip. If it's not, use Plug Capture Device, or one of the advanced methods to gain access to the computer's supply of power.
4. Unplug the computer from the original power source. HotPlug will instantly route power from the UPS - the computer will not lose power.
5. Plug the computer into the portable source. The computer is plugged in twice at this point - HotPlug makes this OK.
6. Unplug HotPlug At this point, the Target computer will be solely powered by the UPS.
7. Carry the computer away while it's still running.
8. Reverse this process to plug the computer into another outlet.

Most computers are plugged into power strips and the power strip seizure method works great.  If the target computer is not plugged into a power strip, you'll need Plug Capture Device to capture the plug directly from a wall outlet.

If you're not in the US, the Plug Capture Device idea would not work - some countries use plugs which are coated with plastic (meaning a PCD cannot make contact).

There are potentially more reasons someone can't seize the power strip or use PCD...  In these situations, advanced seizure methods are required. Advanced methods are not extremely difficult - but you must have basic (yet specific) knowledge about circuitry.
