RTX222-QR was specifically designed to meet the backup needs of the SMB market. It offers a simple and secure solution for encrypted off-site backup and disaster recovery while always allowing physical control of data.

DataPort® 10 Secure with Internal Key Removable Drive Technology
DataPort 10 Secure with Internal Key offers government strength 256-bit hardware-based encryption in the RTX storage system with little to no key management. The RTX222-QR includes two DataPort 10 Secure frame and carrier assemblies with the internal encryption keys (dongle). The internal encryption key is connected to the frames that stay mounted in the RTX enclosure. This means that when the carrier is inserted into the enclosure the data is automatically accessible. However, once the carrier is removed from the RTX enclosure to store off-site, the contents are completely encrypted and can only be accessed from the host frame or another DP10 Secure device and matching encryption key (dongle). If the carrier is lost or stolen, the data cannot be accessed without the proper encryption key (dongle).

Latched 2nd Bay Option
Many SMB disaster recovery processes require a non IT person to take rotational backups off-site. At the request of our VARs, RTX222-QR comes with an optional latched bay (no key lock required) allowing easy access to remove a mirrored backup for off-site storage. The other bay locks to ensure the drive is not removed so data stays secure. 

DataPort® 10 Rugged Removable Drive Technology
RTX222-QR has two high performance DataPort 10 Secure removable storage enclosures. Its rugged all-aluminum construction provides superior protection and cooling. CRU-DataPort's reliability testing has determined the DataPort 10 Secure connectors can withstand over 30,000 insertions without failure or degradation of signal quality. 

Configurator Software
We've written companion software (Win/Mac compatible) that will allow you to configure at what temperatures the warning LEDs turn on, fans spin up, and/or audible alarms sound. Use RTX in the desert with solid state drives and set the alarm higher - or use it in a cold office and leave the alarm temperature lower.

How to rotate through backup disks:
Remember - a mirror, while it does protect you against a hard drive failure, does not inherently offer a backup. Keeping a separate copy of your data on another hard drive (in this case a 3rd hard drive), helps protect you from data corruption and accidental file deletion. This is easily accomplished with an RTX222-QR in mirror mode. Simply unmount the volume to stop all write activity, remove one of the two drives, and then insert a third drive. You can remount your RTX immediately - and as you work, your RTX will "recover" by automatically copying your data to the inserted drive. The drive you removed can be treated as a backup that you can archive in a fire proof safe, off-site and away from the original data. Any time you choose, you can access the information on your backup disk with another enclosure, such as a 1 bay RTX or ToughTech.
